Accomodation Products

Within the accommodation spaces onboard a vessel, be it a LNG tanker, or a cruise ferry, or anything else, appropriate modern lighting solutions are required, that not only should be enhancing your vessel’s energy-efficiency, but also ensuring that the crew and any passengers feel comfortable and relaxed. There are a few different areas within the accommodation spaces, and RLT Marine has solutions for each.

Cabin Area Lighting

Valuable personal time is spent in the cabins, whether by crew or passengers, and they are often designed to support the wellbeing of those onboard. Lighting is key to this, as it needs to be functionable, but still comfortable, with very little maintenance required. These spaces also need vibration-free luminaires and lamps with no glare. More often than not, the luminaires are recessed into the ceiling, and are slightly wider than typical watertight luminaires you might find in other indoor spaces, such as the engine room.

RLT Marine introduces the VULKAAN, a versatile lighting solution for marine cabins, prioritizing functionality and comfort. The L2-3062 and L2-3082 models are ideal for cabins, offering a wide design with two LED light output areas, mimicking fluorescent tubes' aesthetics while saving 75% energy. In bathrooms, RLT Marine emphasizes high quality and water-resistant luminaires to enhance crew and passenger well-being.

Corridoors Lighting

Throughout the ship corridors in the accommodation spaces, there are many important factors that need to be considered. Some include the fact that they are the escape route in an emergency, they need to be illuminated 24 hours every day, and they mostly do not have any daylight exposure. Amongst other factors, this means the lighting must operate reliably and must be tested, and passed, to the marine standards so the crew can be sure it will support them well 24-hours per day, and throughout emergency situations.

Serving as a main escape route, the lighting is required to help guide personnel to safety by using appropriate signed. Due to limited space, it is difficult for the crew to carry out maintenance, so the luminaires require guaranteed long life light fixtures and zero maintenance, whilst harmonising with the overall interior design of other areas of the vessels.

Social Area Lighting

On commercial vessels, the mess and lounge areas are where the crew and passengers socialise – the light output needs to be appropriate, so the environment is a comfortable area to be in. Typically, the colour temperature of luminaires chosen would be 3,000 Kelvin, but often flexible light distribution is required and can be provided using the latest lighting technology. The prevention of glare is key and RLT Marine have numerous different features and designs to cover this; simply view our product datasheets for feature options, or get directly in touch with our team.
